DAVIS LOOKS FOR LOANS

The Crewe Alexandra manager Steve Davis has said that he is likely to enter into the loan market in order to get strikers to the squad. The club has made an average start to the League One season. They have just two victories to show for the last five matches, which has meant that they are currently in the 13th position in the table. Steve Davis has said that he will be at least looking to get into the play-off spots with Crewe Alexandra. In order to do so, the squad needs reinforcement according to the manager. However, he is unlikely to buy the players due to the limited budget.

As a result, he will be entering into the loan market especially after the Premier league squads have been sealed. This would allow Steve Davis to look at various Premier league players to bring on loan deals. Attack will be a crucial area where Steve Davis should strengthen after he has recently lost the duo of Harry Bunn and Mathias Pogba to injuries. It is expected that both these players will be out for a significant amount of the season. As a result, the club needs to have options up front according to the manager.

“If it’s an injury that keeps him [Bunn] out for several months, he may have to go back. And I may have to delve back into the loan market to bring somebody else in. Pogba is still a couple of weeks away, and that would have helped us if he’d have been a bit closer. So that’s maybe where I’ll go, I’ll look to bolster that forward line,” said Steve Davis after the 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers. This draw now means that the club has no more than two victories in the last five matches.
