CREWE SHOT STOPPER MAKES BEST TEAM

Crewe Alexandra shot stopper Will Jaaskelainen has been named in the team of the season in League One as compiled by Whoscored. The Crewe Alexandra goalkeeper was one of the best players for the club as he played a big part in his team finishing in the top half of the table.

Jaaskelainen was a major factor for Crewe Alexandra who ended the regular season in 12th position in their first season back in the division. He finished the season with the third best saves per 90 minutes (three).

The Crewe shot stopper is joined in defence by the quartet of Sam Long (Oxford United), Robert Atkinson (Oxford United), Cameron Burgess (Accrington Stanley) and CallumElder (Hull City).

Oxford United fullback Long was one of the best in the division and he weighed in with six goals and four assists. In addition, he also made 121 interceptions and tackles combined. His teammate Atkinson finished the season in fourth place for interceptions (79) and most aerial duels (258).

Accrington defender Burgess made more tackles and interceptions combined than any other player in the division (192). Hull City left-back Elder had nine assists this season which is more than any other defender.

In midfield, Peterborough star Joe Ward, his Peterborough teammate SirikiDembele, Hull City player George Honeyman and Jorge Grant of Lincoln City were all selected.

Lincoln City star Grant was a key performer as he helped his team to a top-six finish. He weighed in with 13 goals and eight assists. On his part, midfielder provided 13 assists as he helped Hull City win the division. He would be hoping to be part of the squad for the English Championship campaign next season.

Vadaine Oliver of Gillingham and Jonson Clarke-Harris of Peterborough United made the list of the best players as strikers.
