Crewe Alexandra Continues Run of Bad Form

Crewe Alexandra have made a poor start to the season, and the team are yet to take its first point of the campaign. The disappointments continued after a 3-2 defeat against Bolton Wanderers in the League Cup. As a result, Crewe Alexandra were knocked out of the competition, but this result did not appear to knock the confidence out of manager Steven Davis. He said after the encounter that the performance was the most important thing from the match and he is confident that Crewe Alexandra will go on to become the first points of the season in the upcoming matches.

The club have reasons to be confident since their next matches against Gillingham at home. Crewe Alexandra have been well against this opposition of late. Even though they have only one home victory since March, Davis says that the performance against Bolton suggests that the players are starting to gel and make a difference. Crewe Alexandra were not expected to progress at the expense of championship outfit Bolton, but they almost came close to creating a shock by taking the game to extra time.

Davies has also been given a major boost with the news that central defender George Ray will be available for the match against Gillingham. The 20-year-old appeared to suffer a serious injury against Bolton.

“The spirit is there. What we haven’t got yet is the results. But if we can keep working hard and playing like we did against Bolton, the results will come. After Bolton the players will have been thinking they’ve given everything and still not come out with a win, but that’s just how things are when you have had a run of games without a victory. The confidence can drain away, but the players have got their heads up,” said Davis.
