ALEX EYE REUNION WITH FORMER CAPTAIN

 

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has revealed that Luke Murphy will be put into consideration when it’s time for the club to find a new midfielder. The former club captain was in action on Tuesday nights friendly away at Nantwich. He replaced Tom Lowery for the final 30 minutes of the match.


Murphy, 30, is without a club following his release from Bolton Wanderers last season. Murphy, who is now a free agent has been training with his former side in preparation for the new season.

When David Arte was asked about Murphy, he replied that he is a player the club will consider when they start t9 plan for incoming 9kayers ahead of next season. He revealed the mutual admiration between the pair, finally admitting that he will like a player like Murphy in the locker room.

Alex is in need of midfielders, and All have revealed that when the club reached the bridge to bring in reinforcements, they will surely cross it.

Murphy was a graduate of Crewe Alexandra academy. He made his debut in 2008 in a 1-0 win against Swindon town. He registered his first goal for the club in 4-1 win against Heratpool in December 2008. He was appointed the captain of the club in 2012 after Ashley Westwood left the club. He made 161 league appearances for Alex in five years before moving to Leeds United in 2013.

He has been on loan at Bolton Wanderers since 2018. He was released by the club last season. Murphy has been training with his old side since the past few weeks as he eyes a new club for the 2020-2021 season.
