CREWE EXTEND UNBEATEN RUN WITH WIN

Crewe Alexandra are one of the form teams in the English League One after they took their unbeaten run to four games with the win over Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday night. Crewe Alexandra welcomed Plymouth Argyle to Gresty Road in one of the week eighteen fixtures in the third level of club football on the English soil.

Crewe had put their three-game unbeaten run on the line against Plymouth Argyle and they were able to increase it to four matches following the 2-1 win over their opponents. Crewe Alexandra raced to a two-goal lead at the halftime break through the strikes from English winger Charlie Kirk and forward Owen Dale.

Kirk gave Crewe Alexandra the lead midway into the first half of the encounter before Dale added a second goal two minutes from the end of the first half. Young Welsh forward Luke Jephcott came on for defender Kelland Watts at the start of the second half and he was responsible for the lone goal for Plymouth Argyle. His goal came five minutes from time to setup a frenetic finish but hosts Crewe Alexandra were able to withstand the late onslaught to record three maximum points.

Crewe Alexandra are on a four-match unbeaten run and only Shrewsbury Town have a better record than them at the moment. Shrewsbury Town are without a defeat in each of their last five league games since the 2-1 reverse at the home of Ipswich Town. Crewe Alexandra have not tasted defeated since they were beaten 1-0 at Accrington Stanley towards the end of November. Since that defeat, Crewe Alexandra have beaten Swindon Town at home, drawn with hosts Burton Albion, beaten Northampton Town at home in the league before the home league victory over Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday. The win was not enough to take Crewe Alexandra out of 11th spot on the league table. They have 26 points from 18 games and are now four points off the playoff places.
