Crewe Alexandra have received a positive piece of news about two of their top players in the persons of Josh Lundstram and Oli Finney. The two players were previously ruled out with different injures, sidelining them from playing a couple of games for the club, but they have now both been given the green light to resume first-team training in the next coming days. This will come as a huge boost to the club as they prepare to continue holding hopes of finishing the season strongly.
The two players underwent scans regarding their injuries and according to the doctors who were in charge of carrying out the assessments, the injuries were healing normally and what is left of the players to do is to follow instructions and work their way to full fitness. The doctors also revealed that if Lundstram and Finney could follow instructions on the routine they should follow, they would be returning earlier than first stated. Crewe Alexandra have maintained their current unbeaten run after they scored a late goal to avoid defeat at the home of Blackpool in a league game played on Tuesday night. The two teams met at Bloomfield Road for an English League One clash andthe game ended in a share of the spoils. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw. Crewe Alexandra went behind just before the break. Northern Ireland international centre back Daniel Ballard scored the opener on 41 minutes to give hosts Blackpoolan advantage at the halftime interval. Daniel Ballard is on loan at Blackpool having joined them from parent club Arsenal at the start of the season. Blackpool held on to that advantage until the final four minutes of the game when Crewe Alexandra were rewarded for their endeavours especially manager David Artell, who was brave with his substitutions.
Crewe Alexandra won’t be playing any league game this weekend after the Portsmouth clash in the English League One was called off. Crewe Alexandra made the announcement on Friday via their various social media portals. The home game with Pompey at the Alexandra Stadium was called off for this weekend due to a frozen pitch.
The freezing weather conditions in England has led to the postponement of several games in recent weeks especially in the lower leagues. Crewe Alexandra invited a qualified referee to assess the state of the Alexandra Stadium pitch and he deemed it unplayable in some areas thereby prompting the postponement of the Portsmouth clash scheduled for this weekend. A decision to call off the League One game was made since temperatures won’t rise over the night. The game was initially scheduled to take place on Saturday. David Artell, the head coach of Crewe Alexandra has insisted that he will be allowing all of his players to take the Christmas day off because they have earned it. The players have been busy recently having been playing three games every single week continuously for ten whole weeks.
The team also recently enjoyed a mid-week without any match for the first time in a while and they have decided they will use the opportunity to train until when they go home to spend a Christmas day off with their families and loved ones.
